About Me – Part 3

My name is Campbell Willis, I’m a now a 36 (bloody hell) year old average Kiwi bloke  – I still like beer (not  as much as I used to), rugby (especially now since we won the RWC) and the great outdoors. I am still live in Brisbane, Australia with my wife Tanya (yes she stills puts up with me after over 14 years)

In my first About Me post, I talked about defining moments in my running and how I first started. On reflection, I can say that my time in Vancouver was another one of these moments. I discovered the joys of trail running in the Nth Shore Mountains and was involved in the running of the 2oth Knee Knacker, which was a life changing experience. Along with taking part in the race, which kicked butt, being part of the training groups and meeting other local runners along the way was a definite highlight of my trip (About Me – Part 2)

My time in Vancouver and on the Nth Shore trails is still very dear to my heart and dream of one day getting back and running the Knee Knacker.

Since the Knee Knacker, among other races I have taken part in are; Stormy 50 in Squamish, New York Marathon, Kokoda Challenge on the Gold Coast and just recently the Six Foot Marathon in NSW, Australia. I have plans to keep running ultras and am hoping to finish a 100km race this September in the Glass House Mountains, north of Brisbane (About Me – Part 2).

It took me well into 2011 to run my first 100km trail run and was lucky enough to take part in the North Face 100 in the beautiful Blue Mountains of Australia. My next 100km was the equally amazing 2012 Tarawera Ultra Marathon in Rotorua, New Zealand.

I am now about to embark on a journey to run my first 100 miler which will hopefully (all things going to plan) be this September in the Glass House Mountains of Queensland, Australia. What am I getting myself into?
